GENUINE CONVERSATIONS, FOR CHANGE

Really understanding what's going on for someone, treating their stories with respect, and taking a non-judgemental approach are at the core of my practice.

Wherever you are based, I understand how busy our lives can be. Delivering sessions via video call is a great way of organising face to face sessions around your other commitments. You don't have to travel to my office, and we can schedule sessions for a time that best suits you, wherever we both happen to be. Prefer to meet in person? That can work too.

This section of my website aims to set out how I work, and the process of setting sessions up. I hope this information is useful. Any questions, just get in touch.

Individual Athlete Support: Resources
talking on phones

INITIAL CHAT

This is an informal conversation, with no obligation to progress to more formalised sessions. The idea is get to know each other, discuss, really briefly, how you feel I can help and the areas you feel you need support. This can happen over the phone, via video call, or in person, depending on your geographical location and what works best for you. Email me now to set this up if you feel I can help, and would like to discuss this further.

ATHLETE RECORD AND DRAWING UP AN ATHLETE AGREEMENT

If we choose to enter a formal working relationship together, the next step is for you to complete an online questionnaire aimed at gathering some basic information from you. You can rest assure this information is retained for my personal use only, and in line with GDPR, will not be shared with third parties. This information is private and confidential, and will be kept securely. Once you've completed the online form, I'll draw up a working agreement. This outlines our working partnership, and formalises our work together. It will state my role, and what you can expect from me. It will also outline what is expected from you, and explain that our work is bound by the British Psychological Society's Code of Ethics and Code of Practice.

WE'RE GOOD TO GO!

Once we've got the paperwork out of the way, we're good to get going with our sessions. I aim to set out a series of sessions that will deliver the most effective outcome, in the least amount of time. I know that athletes seeking my support often want to see results in a short amount of time. Although this might not be possible all of the time, I want you getting the most out of our sessions as quickly as possible. Typically, we will start with six sessions over a three month period. These sessions will start by gathering a more detailed athlete history. Then I'll conduct a needs analysis to identify where the problems lie, and from there, develop a plan of attack. A three month commitment from you ensures we can get things moving in the right direction together

Business Meeting

ALWAYS HERE FOR YOU

Sometimes, the needs analysis can identify a number of areas you may need support. To gain noticeable changes within the agreed timeframe, I will always endeavour to approach the area we both agree to be the most appropriate, given the information to hand. Once we've addressed that initial area we may feel we need to address the other identified areas. Likewise, we might feel that our work has been successful, but feel that continuing sessions would facilitate sustained performance improvements. This might mean transitioning from an initial plan, to a maintenance plan. Typically, we schedule these sessions fortnightly, for as long as we both feel is productive and necessary. Of course, if you feel you wish to take a break after the initial six sessions, we are more than able to set sessions back up again at any moment. Once we've established our working relationship, I am always here for you, and more than happy to continue to support your sporting journey in any way I can.
